HO-scale AAR 70-ton Triple Hopper in Kansas City Southern livery is a detailed model of a classic North American open hopper used to haul coal, gravel, coke, and other bulk commodities. These hoppers were widespread on mid-20th-century railroads, with more than 33,000 built for numerous roads and many remaining in service into the 1980s, making them a familiar sight on any layout.

Designed for prototype accuracy, the model features fine rivet detail on both interior and exterior, wire grab irons, and separate brake lines and hoses. It offers two brake housing options—Ajax and Miner—and three brake wheel choices (Ajax, Miner, and Modern), plus newly-tooled 70-ton trucks in solid bearing and roller bearing configurations with an improved mounting design. Realistic touches include brake test stencil data printed on the reservoir, metal wheelsets with authentic wheel-face contours, and Kadee-compatible knuckle couplers, along with a removable ABS coal load that reveals a decorated interior and period-accurate lettering.
