N Cryogenic Tank Car, Airco (BLI8149)

The N Cryogenic Tank Car, Airco is designed specifically for transporting cryogenic fluids such as liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. This model is built to replicate the high-capacity railroad tank cars used for the efficient and safe transport of these super-cold materials, maintaining low temperatures during transit. The tank car can transport more than 15,000 gallons of liquid oxygen, essentially doubling the capacity of previous models.

These cars are capable of maintaining extreme cold temperatures, reaching as low as -297 degrees Fahrenheit for liquid oxygen, -320 degrees Fahrenheit for liquid nitrogen, and -302 degrees Fahrenheit for liquid argon. The model showcases attention to detail, featuring accurate scaling from prototype blueprints, including accurately painted colors and fine printing that captures builders' stencils and other important markings.

With two roof walkway options and different truck types available—friction bearing and roller bearing—this tank car offers versatility and realism. It comes fitted with metal wheelsets that feature prototypical contours, and is compatible with Microtrains-compatible operating knuckle couplers. Designed for operation on code 55, code 70, and code 80 rail, it has a minimum operating radius of 9.75 inches.
