N Reading T1 4-8-4 Locomotive 1976 American Freedom Model (BLI8245)

The N Reading T1 4-8-4 Locomotive, originally configured for fast freight service, brings the spirit of the Reading Railroad to life. Entering service between 1945 and 1947, these locomotives have a historical backdrop, transitioning from existing motive power to super-power steam locomotives at a time when the Reading Railroad recognized the need for enhanced capabilities. Designed for heavy-duty performance, the T1s did, however, spend limited time in active service before being retired, with most facing retirement by 1958. A few of these iconic locomotives were preserved for excursion services, and one of the preserved models, No. 2101, famously pulled the American Freedom Train in the 1970s. The Reading T1 locomotive represents an important chapter in railroad history and has been carefully replicated in N scale by Broadway Limited, offering models in various prototypically accurate paint schemes. The current offering predominantly includes models under the Paragon4 series, featuring rich details such as separate controls for lights and an optional DCC/Sound decoder installation, while maintaining compatibility with various track sizes.
