The HO RF-16 Sharknose Locomotive B ATSF 470A Cat Whiskers is a notable model inspired by the original RF-16 Sharknose diesels, which were built between 1950 and 1953 by Baldwin Locomotive Works. Designed based on the specifications of the Pennsylvania Railroad, these locomotives featured distinctive contours echoing Raymond Loewy's design for the T1 class steam locomotive.

Baldwin constructed a total of 160 RF-16 locomotives, which included 109 A-units and 51 cabless booster B-units. Known for their powerful performance, these Sharknose engines were excellent for hauling heavy cargo such as ores and coal. With an impressive 1600 horsepower, the RF-16s competed effectively in the market, even beating the F7 model in power output. Although they became less common after 1967, their legacy remains strong.
