HO RF-16 Sharknose Locomotive A D&H 1205 Blue Warbonnet (BLI8292)

The HO RF-16 Sharknose Locomotive A, D&H 1205, Blue Warbonnet is a striking model that pays homage to the unique cab unit diesel locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in the early 1950s. Known for their distinctive contours, these locomotives were designed based on the aesthetic of the Pennsylvania Railroad's T1 class steam locomotive. Only 160 of these powerful engines were produced, with 109 A-units among them, making this model a rare addition for collectors and hobbyists alike.

This locomotive is not just about looks; it boasts impressive performance capabilities, with 1600 horsepower that allows it to effectively haul heavy loads like ore and coal drags. Although they were retired by 1967, the RF-16s were originally favored for their excellent towing capacity, surpassing their contemporaries such as the F7. The model from Broadway Limited replicates the prototypically accurate paint scheme of the D&H 1205, further enhancing its authenticity.

The model is part of Broadway Limited's Stealth Series, making it DCC-ready straight out of the box with no sound. It features directional front and rear lights, and an installed 8-ohm speaker allows for the easy addition of a DCC/sound decoder. Engineered for smooth operation and heavy towing, it also incorporates all-wheel electrical pick-up and an ABS body with a die-cast chassis, ensuring maximum tractive effort and reliability on the tracks.
