HO-scale EMD F7A locomotive in Great Northern Empire livery, road number 454D. The F7A was EMD's fourth model in the F-unit family and the best-selling cab unit of all time, a staple in both passenger and freight service. This A-unit faithfully reproduces the Empire paint scheme with prototypical road numbers and arrives DCC-ready with no sound, ready for an optional sound decoder and speaker.

Designed for dependable, prototypical operation, the locomotive features an ABS body on a die-cast chassis, all-wheel electrical pickup, and a precision drive engineered for heavy towing and smooth slow-speed performance. An eight-ohm speaker is installed to simplify adding sound, and two metal Kadee-compatible couplers are included. It carries many separately applied details such as grab irons, horns, and bells, plus directional front and rear lights and a suite of prototypical features like water and sand fill locations, dynamic brake details, cooling fans, and a roof antenna. It will operate on Code 70, 83, and 100 rails and requires a minimum 18-inch radius curves.
