N EMD E7A Locomotive PRR 5845A DGLE 5-Stripe (BLI8798)

The N EMD E7A Locomotive, PRR 5845A, DGLE 5-Stripe is a 2,000-horsepower passenger train locomotive manufactured by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division. Produced from February 1945 to April 1949, a total of 428 cab versions were created, known as E7As, alongside 82 booster E7Bs. This exceptional locomotive features two 12-cylinder model 567A engines, generating 2,000 horsepower—an achievement that positioned it as a best-seller among the EMD E-units.

Recognized for its distinctive 'bulldog nose' design, the E7A stood out with a less slanted front compared to its predecessors. The model has gained historical significance, with over 20 different railroads having utilized the E7 in their passenger services. A prime example of this model, the ex-Pennsylvania Railroad E7A #5901, is preserved at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

This model includes the Paragon4 Sound and Control System, which provides an immersive experience with features such as rolling thunder sound effects, dual-mode decoders, and a precision drive mechanism designed for heavy towing and smooth slow-speed operation. Craftsmanship is evident in its premium paint, prototypical detailing, and operational compatibility with various rail codes.
