HO EMD SD45 Locomotive NW 1776 Bicentennial High Hood (BLI9006)

The HO EMD SD45 Locomotive in the NW 1776 Bicentennial High Hood livery is a powerful model that encapsulates the history of American freight transportation. Built on the same frame as several other EMD staples, this locomotive was produced between 1965 and 1971, with a total of 1,260 units manufactured. It is equipped with EMD's 645E3 20-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive output of 3,600 horsepower. This model is designed to represent locomotives that served on various railroads, including the Burlington Northern, Southern Pacific, and Santa Fe, among others.

Functionally, these models are DCC-ready, allowing for easy installation of a DCC decoder, although they operate on DC out of the box. The LED front and rear directional lights enhance visibility, and track power controls other lights. The locomotive's construction features an ABS body paired with a die-cast chassis, optimizing its tractive effort while ensuring smooth operation, especially at slow speeds. Additionally, it includes an 8-ohm speaker for DCC/sound decoder installation.

Each model is crafted with precision, featuring road-specific details such as handrails and etched metal grills, alongside metal Kadee-compatible couplers. It operates smoothly on various rail codes, making it a versatile addition to any model railroad.
