501 Arch Bar Standard (KAD501)

33" ribbed back wheels are designed with accurate markings and incredible detail, staying true to the prototype. The wheels are non-magnetic and feature highly flexible sprung trucks, along with metal side frames and bolsters. They are fully sprung for smooth tracking and free rolling, equipped with contoured insulated axes and RP-25 free rolling wheels.

The Arch Bar Truck is representative of those used around the turn of the century. Despite their age, these trucks provided over seventy years of service in various applications. The arch bar was permitted in interchange service until approximately 1941. However, this restriction did not apply to railroads that were not common carriers, such as logging or other industrial lines, as these trucks operated solely on the owner's rails. The Northern Pacific, for instance, utilized truss rod frame maintenance of way cars fitted with arch bar trucks well into the early 1970s. Additionally, many logging railroads also employed them for at least this duration.
