An N-scale replica of Amtrak’s ALC-42 Charger locomotive, Phase VI, number 300, designed for model railroading enthusiasts. This Kato model faithfully reproduces the Siemens diesel-electric engine used on Amtrak’s long-distance service, with an extended nose, larger fuel and sand tanks, and other internal refinements that mirror cross-country operation.

On the layout it offers authentic operation with body-mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers, directional golden-white LED headlights, and illuminated number boards. A five-pole motor with all-wheel electrical pickup powers the locomotive, while hybrid steel and plastic wheels deliver reliable contact and detailed prototype look. The model is DCC-friendly and includes space for a speaker in the fuel tank, with an optional interior lighting kit to illuminate the side vents and engine compartment for added realism.
