HO 50' Smooth Side Mechanical Reefer Plastic Model (RND-1439)

HO Scale 50-Foot Smooth-Side Mechanical Reefer is a ready-to-run plastic model designed to recreate mid-century mechanical refrigeration cars used for frozen foods on HO layouts.

Fully assembled and decorated, it features a separate brake wheel, body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, 33-inch machined wheels with RP25 contours, and a weighted chassis for smooth, reliable running. The injection-molded body is highly detailed, painted and printed for realistic decoration, and it can negotiate HO minimum radii as small as 18 inches. These 50-foot mechanical reefers were delivered to numerous railroads in the mid- to late-1950s and 1960s as mechanical refrigeration began replacing ice-based systems, making them a representative addition to any HO roster.
