HO 50' Smooth Side Mechanical Reefer SFRD #2070 (RND-1444)

HO-scale 50-foot smooth-side mechanical refrigerator car, designated SFRD, is a ready-to-run model that reproduces mid-century mechanical refrigeration used to haul frozen foods.

Fully assembled and ready to run, the car features a separate brake wheel and body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers, 33-inch machined wheels with RP25 contours, and a weight-balanced chassis for smooth, reliable tracking. The injection-molded body is highly detailed, with painted and printed decoration for realistic appearance, and the design suits HO layouts with a minimum radius of 18 inches. In prototype service, similar 50-foot mechanical reefers were delivered to multiple railroads in the 1950s and 1960s as diesel-driven refrigeration replaced ice bunkers, bringing improved temperature control to frozen-food transport.
