HO RND F7A Locomotive DCC-Ready, ARR #1504 (RND-2240)

This HO-scale EMD F-Unit F7A diesel locomotive from Athearn Roundhouse is a DCC-ready, ready-to-run model designed for HO model railroading. It recreates the Phase I Early F7A with a detailed injection-molded body, a revised heavy-die-cast frame for solid weight, and flush-fitting cab and window detailing to deliver a realistic on-layout presence, plus provisions for 21-pin DCC decoders.

Inside, an all-wheel-drive layout powered by a 5-pole motor with flywheels and a multilink drive delivers smooth, quiet performance, while two wires per truck ensure reliable current pickup. The model rides on RP25-profile wheels, ships fully assembled and decorated for immediate running, and includes separately applied horns and McHenry scale-knuckle couplers. It’s designed for HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius and remains accessible for decoder upgrades thanks to its DCC-ready design.
