HO RND F7A Locomotive DCC-Ready GN #316C (RND-2242)

This HO-scale EMD F-Unit diesel locomotive from Athearn Roundhouse recreates the classic F7A in Great Northern livery with road number GN 316C. It is DCC-ready and designed to accept 21-pin decoders, giving modelers a straightforward path to digital control on HO layouts.

Featuring new body tooling based on the Phase I early F7A and a revised frame with heavy die-cast weight, the model delivers solid traction and reliable running. It includes flush-fitting cab and window glass, improved all-wheel electrical pickup with two wires to each truck, and options for single or dual headlights, plus separately-applied horns and McHenry scale knuckle couplers. The drive system offers all-wheel drive with precision gears, a 5-pole motor with flywheels and a multilink drive train for smooth operation, and RP25-contoured wheels compatible with most HO track. Fully assembled, painted and decorated for realism, it’s ready to run on HO layouts with an 18-inch minimum radius.
