HO 40' 4-Bay Offset Hopper with Load, C&O (RND88186)

An HO-scale 40-foot, four-bay offset hopper car in C&O livery, loaded for bulk-material service. Open hopper cars like this transport commodities such as coal, and the offset, four-bay design with bottom doors allows faster unloading, mirroring how such cars are used in automated cargo handling around the world.

The model features a separately applied brake wheel, 33-inch machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and 50-ton Bettendorf or 70-ton roller bearing trucks. It uses body-mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers and is weighted for optimum performance. The highly detailed injection-molded body is painted and printed for realistic decoration, and the car is designed to negotiate an 18-inch minimum radius. The four-bay offset design builds on earlier two-bay designs to enable quicker discharge through four doors underneath.
