HO Budd Slumbercoach Model (RPI141015)

HO Budd Slumbercoach is an HO-scale model of the mid-1950s Budd Slumbercoach sleeping car, designed as an economical overnight option to attract travelers back to rail service. The real cars carried about 40 passengers in 24 single rooms plus eight double rooms along a central aisle; 18 cars were built between 1956 and 1959 and saw service on famous trains before later joining Amtrak. One BN-liveried example, Loch Rannoch 1489, is represented in this release.

Designed from original blueprints, the model features authentic underbody detail with separate pipes and conduits, plus full interior detail including roomette doors. It uses track-powered interior lighting compatible with DC and DCC layouts, rides on accurate trucks with disc brake detail, and includes etched-metal end gates and sprung diaphragms. A stainless-steel finish with separately applied name boards is complemented by multiple paint schemes, including BN livery and a generic painted version for customizing on HO-scale layouts.
