HO Vancouver Iron Piggyback Flatcar CN #2 (RPI151002)

The HO Vancouver Iron Piggyback Flatcar is a replica of the specialized flatcars that were used by Canada's major railways for transporting trailers. Starting in the 1950s, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific recognized the need for appropriate rolling stock to facilitate piggyback services. In 1966, Canadian National ordered 283 flatcars from Vancouver Iron and Engineering Works, each capable of carrying 26-foot and 45-foot trailers. These cars saw extensive service well into the late 1980s, and underwent significant rebuilds during their operational lifespan.

This model features components based on original blueprints and design drawings, providing an authentic representation of these unique flatcars. Constructed with a heavy die-cast center sill and a photo-etched deck surface, it ensures durability and accuracy. Other key features include two styles of hitches—upright and collapsed—wire grab irons, and Barber S-2 trucks equipped with metal wheels. Furthermore, it is fitted with Rapido semi-scale metal knuckle couplers, making it a functional and attractive addition to any HO scale model railway.
