An HO-scale EMD GP38 locomotive designed to faithfully reproduce the four-axle GP38 on an HO layout. This proto-specific model delivers an authentic look and feel, capturing the locomotive’s 2,000-horsepower heritage and road-specific detailing that mirrors how different railroads finished their units.

It features authentic details such as dead-straight metal side handrails with plastic stanchions, see-through etched steps, and separately installed grab irons. The underframe is rich with detail, including traction motor cables and air filters, plus road-specific touches like battery box doors and road-number dependent fuel tanks. You’ll also see multiple stepwell styles, a high short hood, and correctly sized trucks and dynamic-brake components. Lighting is fully functional, with operating headlights, rear lights, tri-color class lights and ditch lights or beacons where appropriate, complemented by a highly detailed cab interior. Available in DC/Silent (21-pin DCC-ready) or DC/DCC/ESU LokSound configurations, this GP38 is ready to deliver authentic operation and sound on a wide range of layouts.
