HO-scale EMD GP38 DC Locomotive PC #7848 is a proto-specific, highly detailed model designed for HO layout realism. This four-axle GP38 delivers about 2,000 horsepower and reproduces road-specific features seen on Penn Central units, including separately applied grab irons, see-through steps, and a richly detailed underframe. The locomotive features operating headlights, rear lights, tri-color class lights, and, where appropriate, ditch lights and beacons, along with a meticulously modeled cab interior. It offers DC/Silent (21-pin DCC Ready) or DC/DCC with ESU LokSound for authentic control and sound capability.

Built to match the prototype, it highlights road-specific details such as correct fuel-tank sizes and variations in stepwells, plus a high-short hood and intricately detailed battery boxes. Separate wire grabs and etched steps add to the realism, while compatibility with standard HO track and options for traditional DC or DCC operation make it a versatile addition for Penn Central scenes or regional fleets.
