HO Scale H16-44 McGinnis Scheme Locomotive (RPI44509)

HO Scale H16-44 McGinnis Scheme Locomotive (RPI44509)

HO scale Fairbanks Morse H16-44 Phase III locomotive in the McGinnis scheme is a highly detailed model for HO layout enthusiasts seeking an authentic late-Phase III diesel. The real H16-44 delivered about 1,600 horsepower from an eight-cylinder opposed-piston engine and was built between 1950 and 1963; this model captures the Phase III updates, including raised walkways and a simplified short and long hood, with road-name specific McGinnis detailing for an authentic centerpiece on any era-appropriate layout.

Inside, the model features factory-installed grab irons and hood doors, separate handrails, two carbody variants (Dynamic and Non-Dynamic), full underbody piping and conduits, lit number boards, headlights and green-and-white class lights. It carries prototypical trucks (Dofasco or Fairbanks Morse), steam generators where applicable, and fuel tanks that vary by road name. The drive system is Rapido's proven design, adapted from the FA-2, with Macdonald Cartier magnetic couplers mounted at the correct height. Available in DC/Silent (21-pin DCC Ready) or DC/DCC/Sound configurations, and dimensionally accurate to the real locomotive, this model is built to deliver authentic performance on an HO layout.
