Rapido’s HO scale H16-44 Phase III locomotive in VGN Yellow & Black is an authentic model of Fairbanks Morse’s mid-century road-switcher. This Phase III update captures the refinements that raised the walkway and simplified the hood, delivering about 1600 horsepower in model form. Available in DC-only, DC with Silent (21-pin DCC Ready), or DC/DCC with Sound configurations, the model offers flexible options to suit different layouts and electronics setups.

Road-name-specific detailing includes hood doors and handrails, factory-installed grab irons, and both Dynamic and Non-Dynamic car bodies, plus full underbody piping and conduits. The model features lit number boards, headlights, and green-and-white class lights, and uses prototypical trucks from Dofasco or Fairbanks Morse. Steam generators appear where appropriate and fuel tanks vary by road name. The drive system is Rapido’s proven FA-2-derived mechanism, and Macdonald Cartier magnetic couplers are mounted at the correct height for reliable, prototypical coupling on typical layouts.
