N Wide Vision Caboose Painted Unlettered Red (RPI510099)
The N Wide Vision Caboose, painted in an unlettered red, is a highly detailed model representing the modern wide-vision cabooses, or "vans," built between 1972 and 1981 by Canadian Pacific's Angus Shops in Montreal. Over 300 of these cabooses were constructed, known colloquially as the "Angus Van." They gained popularity due to their design and remain in use today, often serving as shoving platforms or rider cars in maintenance-of-way service.
This particular model features a super-detailed underbody with all separate air and brake piping, ensuring authenticity. The caboose is equipped with free rolling Barber-Bettendorf trucks that enhance performance on the tracks. Inside, a detailed interior can be observed, complemented by full end details including uncoupling levers and separately installed metal grab irons, providing a true-to-life appearance. Furthermore, the model includes battery-powered lighting and operating end marker lights, adding a functional aspect to its aesthetics.
Additional features include the option for a roof-mounted air conditioner and fuel oil tank details, which vary depending on the road name. The model is finished with knuckle couplers mounted at the correct height for seamless integration with your train setup.
