N SF RR-56 Mechanical Reefer Model (RPI561004A)

An N-scale Santa Fe RR-56 Mechanical Reefer Model recreates the look and function of the Santa Fe Railroad's mid-20th-century mechanical-temperature-controlled refrigerated boxcar. The RR-56 class, introduced in 1955, formed Santa Fe’s first large fleet of mechanical reefers, with related RR-60 and RR-61 subclasses added later. This model is designed for authentic N-scale layouts, offering a compact, accurate representation that pairs well with other rolling stock.

Derived from original blueprints and photographs, the car features separate door posts, door latches, and coupler cut levers, plus a fully detailed underframe with piping and equipment. It also includes cushion draft gear, two roof hatches for open or closed operation, see-through side grills, and a Trane diesel generator. The RR-56 was designed as an All-Purpose Mechanical Temperature Control car, built to handle a range of refrigerated shipments.
