Shelby GT350 1965 White/Blue
The 1965 Shelby GT350 in white with blue stripes is a remarkable representation of automotive history. Launched in 1964, the Ford Mustang quickly became a trendsetter, appealing to young drivers with its affordability and sporty design. Its success was unprecedented, rivaling the vehicle launch of the iconic Model A, with over a million units sold in just two years, effectively creating the "pony car" segment.
In mid-1964, Carroll Shelby was tasked with developing a racing variant of the Mustang, racing against the clock to produce a powerful and agile machine that could compete in the B Production SCCA class. With strict regulations requiring 100 street-legal versions for competition, Shelby and his team rose to the challenge. The result was a car engineered by Chuck Cantwell and spearheaded by the mechanical expertise of Ken Miles, complemented by striking graphics from designer Peter Brock.
Powered by a 289 cubic inch V8 engine, delivering an impressive 306 horsepower, the Shelby GT350 showcased exceptional performance, triumphing in the B Production National Championships for both 1965 and 1966, outpacing even the famed Shelby Cobras. Over 2,300 street versions were produced, cementing the GT350's legacy in automotive history.
The AFX model captures the essence of this classic muscle car, featuring its iconic white body adorned with original Guardsman Blue metallic race stripes and detailed chrome wheels, making it a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
