Smart G2 technology adds convenience and safety: an on-board microchip stores essential data such as battery brand, chemistry, capacity, cell count, temperature and cycles, plus a log of events like over-charge or overheating. When connected to a Spektrum Smart charger, these parameters upload automatically, allowing the charger to tailor charging without a separate balance lead. The pack uses thicker internal metal side plates for improved heat dissipation and cell protection, and it automatically discharges to a safe storage voltage (3.90V) after 72 hours of inactivity (up to 1.5A). IC3/IC5 connectors are backwards compatible with EC systems, and a Spektrum Smart Charger is required to access the Smart G2 features.
