The hardcase variant with an IC5 connector is built for rugged field use and works with Spektrum Smart charging systems to simplify setup—when paired with a compatible Smart charger, the battery shares its data and health status so charging can begin with a single press of the Start button.

Inside is a memory microchip that stores key details such as battery brand, chemistry, capacity, cell voltages, temperature, and charging history, plus a log of safety events. Smart technology also allows automatic discharge to a safe storage voltage after a period of rest, helping extend life and maintain performance. The IC3/IC5 connectors provide a robust connection and are backward compatible with EC3/EC5, enabling use with both current Spektrum Smart chargers and older systems while preserving the benefits of Smart technology when used with a compatible charger.
